Theory Of Es: Hip Hop Is Immortal.

When I first heard the term "Hip Hop is Dead", I was like, "I know right!" But that was when I was on my punk rock shit heavy. There was a point in time where Hip Hop was kinda missing...just in general. Everything sounded real pop'ish and commercial. Some of the unique traits of Hip Hop music were missing. That's why it didn't feel like Hip Hop was around. But now in 2009, if someone says that Hip Hop is dead, I say,"You stupid!" Hip Hop is not dead. It's come to the point where it is immortal. Hip Hop will never die. If you think Hip Hop is dead, then you just aren't checking you it. With all of the different kinds of Hip Hop music that is out there, there is Hip Hop out there for every single person that walks this Earth. If you like old school Hip Hop and it's vibe, there are still artists out there who are doing that. If you like Hip Hop that sounds like you in a club in outer space or something, there's some of that out there too. And everything in between of course.

Hip Hop back in the late 70's and early 80's...and even the 90's is not the same Hip Hop out now. And that's a good thing! Imagine if every artist coming out now sounded like the artist back then...Hip Hop would be so dated and boring. And not saying that the Hip Hop back then was boring b/c I have some personal favorites from that era myself but it's the past and it's time for us to focus on the future of Hip Hop. If Hip Hop did not evolve into what it is now, then yes, Hip Hop would be dead, just like Disco. A quote from this old Nigerian play that I love so much and say all the time is, "Time changes, and the ways of man must change with time."

Let's think of Hip Hop as a chick as if we are all Common lol. This chick is only 30 something years old. Of course she is not gonna look and sound the same. Nor do the same things. She has evolved into something beautiful and has experienced many thing in her lifetime thus far. People saying she's a bad influence to others, especially young people. People saying she isn't real, having to fight for the freedom of speech, people using her to just get money. Having her look change over time and constantly getting criticized for it. Hip Hop has had a tough life yet in all the seas of negativity she has swam in, she can rise above it all in all of her greatness. She has changed the world, changed lives, -saved lives.

And just like any other person, she is complex. There are many sides to her. She can be in the club, poppin' bottles and just living the life and then later, be in a dark room telling you all of her feelings about her life. And then get angry at the government for not helping her city out that's struggling and next thing you know, she's over seas on shopping sprees. It's more than two turntables and a mic. It's mixtapes, iTunes, and a laptop...and then some. She's not dead people, she alive and well. Some of you just refuse to accept her for who she is now. She is as real as she was when she was born back in the late '70s. I love her, just like many people all over the world, and I always will. I don't like all of the changes she has gone through either but I know for a fact that she is not dead.

Hip Hop is one of the most powerful forces to ever face this Earth. How it brings people together, lifts people up, motivate people to follow their dreams, letting people know that there is someone out there who feels your pain, always having your back when no one else does-that's Hip Hop. That's just music in general. So with this Theory Of Es, I hope all you "Hip Hop is Dead" people understand my theory and truly think about why you loved Hip Hop and come to a point where you still love her and accept the changes she has made and embrace her in all of her glory.

I AM HIP HOP. YOU ARE HIP HOP. WE ARE HIP HOP-KRS-One

I hear you, hip-hop is extremely complex. There are many points we can articulate, until day turns to night. But i think everyone can be in agreeance that hip hop has benefited tons of people all over the world.
